Technical Features
To make inflation and deflation of its air mats easier, Sea to Summit developed the multi-function valve. This valve integrates an inflate port with a one-way valve to prevent air loss before you seal the valve, a rapid air dump deflate port, and a fine tune button to adjust for comfort - all in one compact, low profile unit. It has also been designed to allow easy attachment of a pump, for simpler inflation.
Extrusion lamination is common in the medical and aeronautical industries, but Sea to Summit pioneered its use in outdoor products. Liquid Thermoplastic Urethane is applied to the face fabric through an extrusion head, where it bonds permanently. The result: Sea to Summit sleeping mats are more reliable and longer-lasting.
The Pillow Lock System comprises of self-adhesive hook-and-loop patches which are supplied with all Sea to Summit sleeping mats (as of Spring 2019). Attached to your sleeping mat, these patches secure your pillow and prevent it slipping – yet they will not snag on clothing or other lightweight fabrics. All Sea to Summit Pillows (as of Spring 2019) are compatible with this system. Existing pillows can be made Pillow Lock™ compatible by adding an Aeros Pillow Case.
The innovative Delta Core system maximizes the comfort and thickness of our Self Inflating mattresses while minimizing weight and bulk. 40% of the initial volume of the PU foam is removed in horizontal Delta-shaped cores, giving minimal weight and packed size. Importantly, the top and bottom surface of the PU foam remain completely intact. This ensures consistent warmth along the full length of the mattress and significantly improves bonding of the foam to the shell fabric, which reduces the chance of delamination.
The shape and size of the Delta Cores are adjusted across the different thicknesses of our mattresses to ensure strength and durability combined with excellent support. The horizontal Delta Core technique is used in our Comfort Light SI, Comfort Plus SI, and Comfort Deluxe SI models.

Frequently Asked questions
Is the insulation in the Comfort Light Self-Inflating Pad enough for three-season temperatures?
Yes. This self-inflating pad has a tested R-Value of 3.1 – suitable for late spring to early fall.
Does Delta Core make this pad different from other self-inflating pads?
Yes. Horizontal Delta Core technology reduces the weight and packed volume of the foam by 40% (women’s-specific Delta Coring means reduced cross-section cores in the hip / foot areas for additional comfort and insulation).
Small enough when packed to use for backpacking?
Possibly. This pad will fit into most 60+ liter backpacks. Weight and space conscious backpackers may prefer a lighter air pad.
