Philly Cheesesteak

An American classic - and a great crowd pleaser wherever you are!

This cheesy steak sandwich topped with zingy mustard is a delicious and filling meal which you will want to make again and again.

Serves 2

Ingredients

• 400g minute steak
• 4 slices provolone or edam cheese
• American mustard
• ½ white onion
• 1 green pepper
• 1 red pepper
• 2 soft white baguettes

Equipment

• Detour Stainless Steel Kitchen Knife
• Chopping Board
• Detour Stainless Steel Frying Pan
• Detour Stainless Steel Utensil Set
• Detour Stainless Steel Plate

Method

1. Slice your baguettes lengthways so that they can be opened but still in one piece.
2. Finely slice your white onion. Deseed and finely slice your peppers.
3. Add both to your frying pan on a medium heat with oil, salt and pepper.
4. Cook until everything has softened but keeps a slight firmness and remove from the pan.
5. Turn the heat up on your pan. Slice the minute steak into strips, if you’ve sourced your meat from a butcher, get them to cut your steaks as thin as possible for this sandwich.
6. Add some more oil to the pan and then your steak, it should sizzle. Season in the pan and cook on both sides until nicely coloured.
7. Turn the heat down on your pan and top the steak with your slices of cheese. Add a splash of water into the pan and cover with a lid/ plate to melt the cheese.
8. Once melted, portion out the cheesesteak into your open baguette, top with onions and peppers and squirt on your American mustard.
