Description
The Telos three-person freestanding tent will radically change your perception of what an ultralight backpacking tent can be. Sea to Summit’s engineers made it their mission to design a tent that is easy to set up and filled with clever functional features. Mission accomplished.
However – there are three additional reasons why leading gear testers have picked the Telos as the new gold standard for tents: space, ventilation and versatility.
DESIGN DETAILS
Tension Ridge architecture delivers a better space-to-weight ratio than any tent in its class.

Technical Features
The poles of the Tension Ridge are swept upwards like the dihedral wing of an airplane – not angled downwards as is common in tents. This raises the tent’s shape, providing significantly more head and shoulder room, higher doors, easier access and more usable vestibule space.
Typical of Sea to Summit’s commitment to refining details to make gear frictionless and more functional, these machined aluminum clips make setting up the rainfly (either with the inner tent, or with a footprint in ultralight configuration) quick and easy. And they are far more durable than plastic buckles.
Every Sea to Summit tent packs up into three stuff sacks to allow you to split the load easily. During setup, two stuff sacks transform into gear storage pockets, while the pole stuff sack (with a translucent diffuser) becomes a Lightbar. Add a headlamp or two for soft illumination throughout the tent.
Mounted at the highest point, Apex Vents allow warm moist air to escape and channel fresh air into the tent. The vent can easily be zipped shut from inside the tent and does not require mesh to retain its shape, significantly improving airflow. Baseline Vent allows you to control humidity in wet conditions by opening or closing lower portion of the door while maintaining vestibule function and rain protection for your gear.
Powerhouse Collaboration
How it started
"When we decided to take on ultralight backpacking tents, I knew who I wanted to collaborate with—master tent maker Jake Lah.
Jake is the father of modern tent architecture, and his company DAC produces some of the best aluminum poles in the world.
Both of us are driven by producing something better than what’s already out there—and I think we’ve achieved that with our ultralight backpacking tents.
The Alto and Telos deliver exceptional height and space—and are loaded up with unexpected features like adjustable venting and our unique Hangout Mode. They are, quite possibly, the most livable ultralight backpacking tents out there."

Frequently Asked questions
Do I need to use a footprint with this tent?
The Telos has a relatively waterproof (2500mm) floor, so can be used in fairly wet (but not downright boggy) conditions without a footprint. However, a footprint will protect the floor from damage on abrasive surfaces.
How is a 'PeU coating' different from a PU coating?
PeU coatings are ether-based. They are much less susceptible to hydrolysis (which is when a urethane coating absorbs moisture and becomes soft or 'sticky', often in storage) - so they are better for rainflys and tent floors.
Will three 200 x 64 cm pads fit in this tent?
No. The TR 3 was primarily designed for ultralight backpackers who generally use smaller pads - three tapered pads will fit.
