Woodhead Road, Crowden, Glossop, Derbyshire, SK13 1HZ

If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic weekend escape, the Crowden Camping and Caravanning Club site is a walker's dream.

Nestled in the Glossop woodlands alongside the Torside Reservoir, the site is home to an array of birds including eagles and falcons. This makes it the perfect location for photographers and nature lovers hoping to spot some local wildlife.

The campsite offers a wide range of amenities for tent pitches and caravanners, making it ideal for family camping trips or extended camping holidays. The site also allows pets and is situated 200m from the nearest bus stop for those travelling via public transport.

Nearby attractions

Surrounded by iconic Peak District landmarks, there is plenty of breathtaking scenery to discover close by. The Longdendale Trail is a perfect sightseeing route that takes you along six reservoirs dotted through the Peak District. If you feel like hunting for Peak District waterfalls, Middle Black Clough waterfall is an hour’s walk away from the site.

Longnor Wood Holiday Park

Newtown, Longnor, Buxton SK17 0NG

Ideal for: Adults only trips and relaxing weekends.

This award-winning campsite and holiday park is situated just outside of Buxton in the peaceful surroundings of Longnor. The site offers tent and caravan pitches, holiday lodges and static pods which makes it ideal for traditional campers and glampers alike.

Longnor Wood Holiday Park is an adult-only campsite so isn’t suitable for family trips - however, it’s perfect for a couples weekend away or a holiday with friends. There are plenty of great walking routes close by, a golfing green and areas for boules and badminton.

The campsite is located a short walk away from Longnor Village which has a handful of pubs if you feel like having a drink or a nice dinner out. For walkers and nature lovers, the Black Brook Nature reserve is a 5 mile walk from the campsite - a great opportunity to snap some photos and stretch your legs.

Ashbourne Club Site

Belper Road, Hulland Road Nr DE6 3EN

Ideal for: Family camping trips and exploring.

Located just next to the historical market town of Ashbourne, this popular campsite offers plenty to do for family getaways and longer camping trips. Whether you’re setting up a tent or bringing the caravan, there are plenty of pitches with electric hookup facilities so you can keep your gadgets charged and the kettle boiling.

Hayfield Club Site

Kinder Rd, Hayfield, High Peak SK22 2LE

Ideal for: Hiking and hill walking.

If you’re looking for the best hiking routes and challenging peaks, the Hayfield Camping and Caravanning Club site is an ideal spot to set base. The site is located a stone’s throw from Kinder Scout and is on the doorstep of the Dark Peak area of the Peak District.

The well-kept campsite is family-friendly and has a good selection of amenities and facilities so you can stay clean and feel refreshed after a long day out on the Peak District trails.

Just a short walk from the campsite, you’ll find the iconic Kinder Scout, one of the Peak District's most challenging and rewarding hikes. There are plenty of great photo opportunities around the trail including the scenic Kinder Reservoir so be sure to take your camera on this trip.

Peak Pods

Lathkill Dale Campground

Church St, Monyash, Bakewell DE45 1JH

Ideal for: Simplistic, back to nature camping.

It doesn’t get much more authentic than the Lathkill Dale campground for hikers travelling light and camping purists. Situated just outside of Bakewell in the heart of the Peak District, this hidden gem offers a quiet retreat where you can get back to nature.

The site has plenty of tent pitches and also welcomes campervans making it a great spot for travelling campers. You’ll be nestled away nicely in the surrounding woods but you won’t have to stroll too far to find the local pubs and shops in White Peak village.

If you’re planning to get back to nature and see what natural sites the Peak District has to offer, take the short walk over to Lathkill Dale Nature Reserve for a chance to see the local wildlife. If you keep heading east from the reserve, you’ll reach Bakewell where you can stop for a well-earned drink in one of the local pubs before heading back.
